Mayor Daley’s Book Club - Teen Grid

20 October 2007

The Mayor Daley’s Book Club (MDBC) is pleased to be represented in the 2007 Virtual Reality College Fair in the Eye4You Alliance sim on the teen grid in Second Life.  In a virtual event which attracts teens from all of the world, it is a great opportunity to showcase this Chicago Public Schools afterschool program which involves about 2,000 students from approximately 80 high schools.  Our booth includes a rotating cube, featuring Mayor Daley’s picture, which gives teens a link to the MDBC website (http://cps.k12.il.us/aboutcps/departments/libraries/mdbc.shtml) and a notecard with an FAQ about the club.  A centerpiece of the booth is a virtual book with information and pictures from the 2007 MDBC Spring Conference.  On the teen grid, my avatar name is ChicagoGal Oh.

The MDBC Booth is only one of many booths that teens can attend as part of the virtual College Fair.

At the Berkeley College booth, a teen asks questions and receives information about the programs offered by this college.  Below, I sit back at chat with a teen from Lincoln Park High School in Chicago, who has rezzed a display board with pictures of virtual jeans that he sells in his business in Second Life.
