EduIsland II Tour
5 April 2007Today, I took a tour of EduIsland II, led by island developer Fleet Goldenberg. The island is very new, having opened on March 18. It features three teaching areas, including two small classrooms and a main auditorium with a 20×20m screen. The screen can display Quicktime movies, images, image slide shows, text written on the images, and a pointer to highlight portions of the text. Embedded in the bottom of the screen is a translation device so that non-English speakers can see translated text chat.
We also toured a Convention Center which has a bar/dance area, which is ideal for social gatherings. Fleet demonstrated their media streaming system which can stream video all over the island in multiple streams. Upstairs is a conference room and meeting area. The tour ended with a viewing of various residential properties and open land that can be rented by educators for use in their teaching. (See http://www.eduislandii.com)
