Librarian Buzz Mtg on 3-22-07
24 March 2007Thursday night, at the Cybrary City auditorium, about 30 librarians got together to talk about Library 3.0 with Maxito Ricardo. Some ideas that I particularly liked from the discussion included:
- Web 2.0 is participatory and Web 3.0 is constructive, creative, and engaging
- Objects created in virtual reality create an ambient, immersive environment which is different than Web 2.0
- Second Life can be used to organize information into 3D project spaces to fuel creativity and collaboration
- Re-granting (or providing mini-grants in Linden dollars) is a successful technique to encourage others to participate in virtual environments.
- Barriers to use of virtual reality include use of different languages and users being in various time zones
