Cybrary City Librarian Party

11 March 2007

Last night, I attended a virtual party for librarians at Cybrary City.  Guests were invited to come dressed as their favorite fantasy character.  There was even a prize for the best-dressed man and woman.  (No, I didn’t win for my costume as Warrior Librarian!)  There was dancing and much conversation.  You may ask, “How does an avatar dance?’  You simply click a sign near the dance floor and it offers to animate your avatar for you.  Therefore, everyone can be a good dancer!  There was streamed music coming in via the SL interface.  It may seem strange to hold social events in SL, but I have found that it is good to attend them occasionally, as it is a great way to network with other professionals and to identify points for future collaboration.  By the way, congratulations to Troy McLuhan and Wellendorf Chihuly - winners of the prizes for best costumes!
